FAQ’s

Q. How do I know if my instructor is fully qualified?

A. A driving instructor must display his or her Approved Driving Instructors badge in the windscreen of their vehicle. A green badge shows that they are fully qualified; a pink badge means that they are still training.

Q. Can I have the same instructor for all my lessons?

A. Yes. Only in exceptional circumstances, for example if your instructor is ill, should we need to change your instructor.

Q. Can I have a female instructor?

A. Yes. At WILD we have both male and female instructors.

Q. Will my instructor smoke during a lesson?

A. No. Our Code Of Conduct does not permit instructors to smoke during lessons.

Q. Will I get a full hour of tuition?

A. Yes, your instructor will pick you up at the time you have arranged and you will have a full hour of one to one tuition.

Q. Can I book a two-hour lesson?

A. Yes. Lessons are booked and tuition costs quoted by the hour, but lessons lasting two-hours can be arranged. In many cases two-hour lessons are preferable and recommended. You can also have one and a half hour lessons if you wish.

Q. Do normal weekly lessons in the evening cost the same as in the daytime?

A. Yes.

Q. Will I have to share my lesson or pick up the next pupil during my lesson?

A. No. It’s against our Code Of Conduct for an instructor to pick up another pupil in your lesson. You will receive personal, one to one tuition.

Q. Can I get picked up and dropped off at different addresses?

A. On most occasions, Yes, but you must make these arrangements with your instructor before your lesson starts.

Q. How many lessons will I need?

A. There is no set number. Driving Standard Agency research suggests that about 40 hours of professional training plus additional practice will give you the best chance of passing.

The number of lessons you need can depend on:

  • How quickly you learn
  • How often you are taught
  • The length of your lessons
  • The amount of practice you can get

Q. Do you teach intensive courses?

A. Yes. We offer a choice of Intensive Courses, with a test booked at the end of the course. Please see the Prices page for details. You will need to book your test in the usual way.

Q. I’m really nervous about learning to drive. Would you advise me to try a simulator first?

Q. Do you offer refresher courses? If so how much are they?

A. If you have already passed your test and need to brush up on your skills, we can offer you a refresher course. Lessons costs can be reduced by £1 per hour from our standard prices if you use your own car.

If you would prefer to keep the lessons a secret, we can send details to you in a plain envelope to give to the recipient on the correct date. Each gift voucher issued will have an expiry date printed on it, and must be presented to the instructor on the first lesson. Lessons issued on the gift vouchers are not transferable between pupils.

A. Special student discounts may be available. Please phone to find out about current offers. Student ID will be required.
