FAQ’s Q. How do I know if my instructor is fully
qualified? A. A driving instructor
must display his or her Approved Driving Instructors badge in the windscreen
of their vehicle. A green badge shows that they are fully qualified; a pink
badge means that they are still training. Q. Can I have the same instructor for all my
lessons? A. Yes. Only in
exceptional circumstances, for example if your instructor is ill, should we
need to change your instructor. Q. Will my instructor smoke during a lesson? A. No. Our Code Of
Conduct and the law does not permit instructors to smoke during lessons. Q. Will I get a full hour of tuition? A. Yes, your
instructor will pick you up at the time you have arranged and you will have a
full hour of one to one tuition. Q. Can I book a two-hour lesson? A. Yes. Lessons are
booked and tuition costs quoted by the hour, but lessons lasting two-hours
can be arranged. In many cases two-hour lessons are preferable and
recommended. You can also have one and a half hour lessons if you wish. Q. Do normal weekly lessons in the evening
cost the same as in the daytime? A. Yes. Q. Will I have to share my lesson or pick up
the next pupil during my lesson? A. No. It’s
against our Code Of Conduct for an instructor to pick up another pupil in
your lesson. You will receive personal, one to one tuition. Q. Can I get picked up and dropped off at
different addresses? A. On most occasions,

lesson starts. Q. How many lessons will I need? A. There is no set
number. Driving Standard Agency research suggests that about 40 hours of
professional training plus additional practice will give you the best chance
of passing. The number of lessons you need can depend
on:
Q. Do you teach intensive courses? A. Yes. We offer a
choice of Intensive Courses, with a test booked at the end of the course.
Please see the Prices page for details. You will need to book your test in
the usual way. Q. I’m really nervous about learning
to drive. Would you advise me to try a simulator first? A. Driving Simulators
can be useful, but nothing can replace in car training with a professional
instructor. Don’t worry if you’re feeling anxious, our friendly
instructors understand and will soon put you at ease. Q. Do you offer refresher courses? If so how
much are they? A. If you have
already passed your test and need to brush up on your skills, we can offer
you a refresher course. Lessons costs can be reduced by £2 per hour from our
standard prices if you use your own car. Q. Will I need to book my theory and
practical tests myself? A. The two tests are
an arrangement between you and the DSA. You can book by ‘phoning 0300
200 1122, or by visiting their website at www.dsa.gov.uk. Q. Can you help me to prepare for the
theory/hazard perception test? A. Yes, your
instructor can help you. You can also buy various practical and theory test
books from your local bookshop. Q. What type of car will I drive? A. You will learn to
drive in a manual dual controlled car. Please contact your instructor as each
instructor has a different make of car. Q. Can I learn in an automatic? A. No. Unfortunately
at this time we can only offer manual tuition. A. Yes. If you would
like to buy driving lessons as a gift, we will send the recipient a letter
and a gift voucher stating the number of lessons given and booking details. If
you would prefer to keep the lessons a secret, we can send details to you in
a plain envelope to give to the recipient on the correct date. Each gift
voucher issued will have an expiry date printed on it, and must be presented
to the instructor on the first lesson. Lessons issued on the gift vouchers
are not transferable between pupils. Q. Do I get a discount if I’m a
student? A. Special student
